Spicy Turkey Burgers Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound ground turkey breast
  • 1/4 cup roasted green chile minced
  • 2 tablespoons chipotle peppers in adobo sauce minced
  • 1 very small onion finely minced
  • 1/4 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Olive oil spray for grill grates
  • 4 slices sharp cheddar cheese optional
  • Burger buns
  • Green chile aioli optional
  • Favorite burger toppings

Instructions
 

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, roasted green chile, chipotle peppers, onion, panko bread crumbs, mayonnaise, cumin, and garlic powder.
  • Mix gently with your hands until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  • Divide the mixture into four equal portions and form into burger patties.
  • Preheat your grill to 300°F (150°C).
  • Lightly spray the grill grates with olive oil to help prevent sticking.
  • Place the patties on the grill and cook for approximately 30 minutes, turning once halfway through cooking.
  • Cook until the Spicy Turkey Burgers reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  • If using cheese, place a slice of sharp cheddar on each burger about 5 minutes before cooking is complete.
  • Remove from the grill and allow the burgers to rest for a few minutes.
  • Serve on toasted buns with green chile aioli and your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • Substitute pepper jack cheese for extra spice.
  • Lettuce, tomato, avocado, and red onion make excellent toppings.
  • Serve with sweet potato fries, coleslaw, or grilled vegetables.
  • The patties can be prepared ahead and refrigerated until ready to grill.
