For the Cake

  • 1¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • ¼ cup brewed coffee cooled
  • 1½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Streusel Topping

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter cold and cubed

For the Coffee Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons brewed coffee adjust as needed

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time. Add the sour cream, vanilla extract, and cooled brewed coffee. Mix until smooth.
  • Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the Mocha Coffee Cake Recipe light and tender.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, cocoa powder, and cold butter. Mix with a fork or pastry cutter until crumbly.
