Ingredients

  • 2 cups mashed potatoes cooled
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 slices cooked turkey bacon crumbled
  • 2 tablespoons chopped chives or green onions
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt adjust to taste
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs plain or seasoned
  • Vegetable or canola oil for frying

Instructions

Mix Filling

  • In a large bowl, combine mashed potatoes, cheddar cheese, turkey bacon, chives, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt. Mix well, then stir in the egg until fully combined.

Shape Bites

  • Scoop about 1 tablespoon of the mixture and roll into balls. If the mixture feels too soft, chill in the refrigerator for 15–20 minutes.

Coat

  • Roll each potato ball in flour, then coat with breadcrumbs. For extra crunch, dip in beaten egg and coat with breadcrumbs again.

Fry

  • Heat about 2 inches of oil in a deep pan over medium heat to 350°F (175°C). Fry the Loaded Mashed Potato Bites in batches for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.

Drain

  • Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess oil.

Serve

  • Serve hot with sour cream, ranch dressing, garlic sauce, or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Substitute cheddar with pepper jack for a spicy twist.
  • Serve with spicy mayo, honey mustard, or ranch dip.
  • Leftover Loaded Mashed Potato Bites can be reheated in the oven or air fryer.
