Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillets about 6 ounces each
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 lemon thinly sliced
  • 8 sprigs fresh dill
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter divided

Instructions

  • Preheat your grill to 400°F (medium-high heat). If using charcoal, wait until the coals are glowing and lightly covered with white ash.
  • Cut four large sheets of heavy-duty aluminum foil, each about 12–14 inches long.
  • Place one salmon fillet in the center of each sheet with the skin side down if applicable.
  • Drizzle each fillet with olive oil and season generously with salt, pepper, and minced garlic.
  • Top each fillet with 2–3 lemon slices and 2 sprigs of fresh dill.
  • Add a small pat of butter to each fillet.
  • Fold the foil tightly around the salmon, sealing all edges to trap the steam.
  • Place the Lemon-Dill Salmon Foil Packets directly on the grill grates. Close the lid and grill for 10–14 minutes, depending on the thickness of the salmon.
  • Carefully remove the packets using tongs and allow them to rest for 1–2 minutes.
  • Open the foil carefully to avoid hot steam and serve immediately with your favorite side dishes.

Notes

  • The recipe can also be baked in a 400°F oven for 12–15 minutes.
  • Unsalted butter allows better control over seasoning.
  • Garnish with additional fresh dill and lemon wedges before serving.
  • Pair with rice, roasted vegetables, grilled corn, or a fresh garden salad.
