Ingredients
  

  • 1 teaspoon active dry or instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup 180ml warm water
  • 2 cups 250g all-purpose flour or bread flour
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil for brushing
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Optional: 1 clove minced garlic
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Favorite pizza toppings of choice

Instructions
 

  • In the bowl of a stand mixer, whisk together the yeast, sugar, and warm water.
  • Cover loosely and let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  • Add flour, olive oil, salt, and optional seasonings.
  • Mix on low speed with a dough hook for about 2 minutes until combined.
  • If the dough feels overly sticky, add flour one tablespoon at a time.
  • Knead the dough for 6–8 minutes using the mixer or by hand on a lightly floured surface.
  • Continue kneading until the dough becomes smooth, soft, and slightly tacky.
  • Place the dough into a lightly greased bowl and cover.
  • Allow the dough to rest and rise for 45 minutes at room temperature.
  • While the dough rises, prepare your toppings.
  • Preheat the oven to 475°F (246°C).
  • Punch down the dough and divide it into two equal portions.
  • Stretch or roll each portion into a thin flatbread approximately 1/4 inch thick.
  • Transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet or pizza stone.
  • Prick the surface with a fork or poke with fingertips.
  • Brush each flatbread with olive oil.
  • Add sauce, cheese, vegetables, or preferred toppings.
  • Bake the Homemade Flatbread Pizza Recipe for 15–20 minutes until golden brown and crisp.
  • Remove from the oven, slice, and serve warm.
