Homemade Churros – Crispy, Sweet and Easy

Homemade Churros are crisp on the outside and soft inside.They are rolled in cinnamon sugar and served warm.This easy churros recipe uses simple pantry ingredients.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 quart oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup sugar or to taste
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Optional chocolate sauce for serving

Instructions
 

  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the water, sugar, salt, and vegetable oil.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil.
  • Remove from the heat and stir in the flour until the dough comes together and forms a ball.
  • Heat the frying oil in a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot to 375°F (190°C).
  • Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
  • Pipe 4- to 6-inch strips of dough carefully into the hot oil.
  • Fry the Homemade Churros until golden brown, about 2 minutes per side.
  • Remove them with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  • In a shallow bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon.
  • Roll the warm churros in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until evenly coated.
  • Serve immediately, with chocolate sauce if desired.

Notes

You can adjust the cinnamon-sugar coating to your taste by adding more cinnamon for a warmer spice flavor. These churros are best served fresh and warm, but they also pair beautifully with chocolate dipping sauce, coffee, or hot cocoa for a cozy dessert spread.
