Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef turkey, or chicken
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup halal-friendly teriyaki sauce
  • 4 pineapple rings fresh or canned
  • 4 brioche burger buns
  • Fresh lettuce
  • Sliced tomatoes
  • 4 cheese slices optional
  • Spicy mayo optional

Instructions

  • Preheat the grill: Heat your grill to medium-high heat and lightly oil the grates if needed.
  • Form the patties: Place the ground meat in a bowl and season with salt, pepper, and teriyaki sauce. Mix gently until combined, then shape into four patties about 1 inch thick.
  • Grill the patties: Place the patties on the hot grill and cook for about 4–5 minutes per side, or until cooked through. If using cheese, add a slice during the final minute and let it melt.
  • Grill the pineapple: Place the pineapple rings on the grill and cook for 2–3 minutes per side, until lightly charred and caramelized.
  • Toast the buns: Cut the brioche buns in half and toast them cut-side down on the grill for 1–2 minutes until lightly golden.
  • Assemble: Spread spicy mayo or your preferred condiment over the buns. Add lettuce, a grilled patty, caramelized pineapple, tomato slices, and any additional toppings.
  • Serve: Serve the Hawaiian Teriyaki Pineapple Burgers immediately with sweet potato fries, a fresh salad, or your favorite barbecue side.

Notes

  • For the best flavor, use ripe fresh pineapple when available. Canned pineapple rings are a convenient alternative and caramelize beautifully on the grill.
  • For a lighter burger, use ground turkey or chicken and serve on whole-wheat buns. You can also skip the cheese or replace brioche buns with your preferred burger buns.
  • Serve with sweet potato fries, grilled vegetables, coleslaw, or a crisp cucumber salad.
