Ingredients

  • 1 pound 453 g broccoli florets, cut into 1½- to 2-inch pieces, about 6 cups
  • 2 tablespoons 30 ml extra-virgin olive oil
  • ¾ teaspoon Diamond Crystal kosher salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat a 6-quart air fryer to 400°F (205°C) for 5 minutes.
  • Place the broccoli florets in a large bowl.
  • Add the extra-virgin olive oil, kosher salt, and freshly ground black pepper.
  • Toss thoroughly until the broccoli is evenly coated.
  • Transfer the broccoli to the preheated air fryer basket, spreading it out as evenly as possible.
  • Air fry at 400°F (205°C) for about 5 minutes, until the broccoli remains bright green but begins to char around the edges.
  • Remove the basket and shake it well to turn and redistribute the florets.
  • Reduce the temperature to 340°F (170°C).
  • Cook the Crispy Air Fryer Broccoli for about 3 minutes more, or until crisp-tender with browned edges.
  • Transfer to a serving platter and serve warm.

Notes

For extra flavor, finish the broccoli with fresh lemon juice, lemon zest, or a sprinkle of grated Parmesan if dairy is suitable for your meal.
This easy crispy broccoli side dish pairs well with grilled chicken, baked fish, rice dishes, pasta, roasted potatoes, or beef.
Frozen broccoli can also be air-fried, although its texture may be softer because frozen florets contain more moisture.
