Cuisine British-inspired
- ¾ cup whipped cream cheese
- ¼ cup sour cream or mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons fresh dill finely chopped
- Kosher salt
- ½ English cucumber thinly sliced
- 8 slices sandwich bread crusts removed
In a small bowl, combine the whipped cream cheese, sour cream or mayonnaise, chopped dill, and a pinch of kosher salt.
Mix until the spread becomes smooth and fully blended.
Spread the creamy mixture evenly over one side of each slice of bread using a butter knife or spatula.
Arrange thin cucumber slices on half of the bread slices, slightly overlapping them for even coverage.
Place the remaining slices of bread on top with the spread facing downward to form sandwiches.
Gently press each sandwich together.
Using a serrated knife, trim off the crusts if needed and cut each sandwich into four small rectangles or triangles.
Arrange the classic cucumber sandwiches on a serving plate and garnish with extra dill or thin cucumber slices if desired.
Whole wheat bread can be used instead of white bread for a nuttier flavor. For extra freshness, add a few mint leaves or chives to the cream cheese mixture. These sandwiches pair beautifully with iced tea, lemonade, or light soups.
