  • Remove the cabbage core and make six deep cuts around the center, about one-quarter of the way down.
  • Brush the cabbage with olive oil.
  • Mix together 1 teaspoon each of garlic powder, smoked paprika, paprika, Cajun seasoning, Old Bay seasoning, and chicken bouillon. Sprinkle evenly over the cabbage.

  • Place 3 tablespoons of butter in the center of the cabbage.
  • Wrap tightly with two sheets of aluminum foil and place on a baking sheet.
  • Bake for 1 hour.
  • Meanwhile, melt the remaining butter and whisk in the remaining garlic powder, smoked paprika, paprika, Cajun seasoning, Old Bay seasoning, and the remaining lemon juice.
  • After the first hour, carefully unwrap the cabbage and spoon 1 to 2 tablespoons of the seasoned butter over the top. Rewrap tightly.
  • Continue baking for another hour until the cabbage is tender.
  • Let rest for 5 to 10 minutes before serving.
  • Season with salt and black pepper and serve with the remaining garlic butter for dipping. This Cabbage Boil Recipe is best enjoyed warm.

Notes

  • Replace chicken bouillon with vegetable bouillon for a vegetarian version.
  • Sprinkle grated Parmesan over the cabbage before serving.
  • Pair with grilled chicken, roasted turkey, steak, seafood, or baked potatoes.
  • Leftover butter makes an excellent dipping sauce for bread or roasted vegetables.
