Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 pounds lean ground turkey
  • 1 1/2 cups packed fresh spinach finely chopped
  • 4 ounces crumbled feta cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup Italian-seasoned bread crumbs
  • 2 teaspoons halal-certified Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 hamburger buns toasted
  • Mayonnaise for serving
  • Cucumber slices for serving
  • Thin red onion slices for serving

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, finely chopped spinach, feta cheese, minced garlic, seasoned bread crumbs, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, and olive oil. Mix gently until everything is evenly incorporated, being careful not to overmix.
  • Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions. Shape each portion into a patty approximately 4 inches wide and 1 inch thick.
  • Place the patties on a parchment-lined plate. Refrigerate for 1 hour or place in the freezer for about 20 minutes to firm them up.
  • Preheat a grill to medium-high heat and generously oil the grates to help prevent sticking.
  • Place the patties on the hot grill. Cook for about 4–5 minutes per side, or until the burgers are no longer pink in the center, the juices run clear, and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  • Toast the hamburger buns while the burgers finish cooking.
  • Assemble the Best Turkey Burgers on the toasted buns with mayonnaise, cucumber slices, and thinly sliced red onion.
  • Serve immediately with your favorite burger sides.

Notes

For a lighter serving option, skip the buns and serve the patties over a crisp salad with cucumber, red onion, and a simple yogurt or lemon dressing.
You can also serve these burgers with oven-baked potato wedges, a green salad, coleslaw, or grilled vegetables.
For a dairy-free version, omit the feta and replace it with a small amount of dairy-free cheese or additional finely chopped vegetables.
If you prefer stovetop cooking, heat a lightly oiled skillet over medium heat and cook the patties for approximately 5–6 minutes per side, checking that the center reaches 165°F (74°C).
For oven cooking, place the patties on a lightly greased baking sheet and bake at 400°F (200°C) until cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C), turning once halfway through cooking.
